Family Caregiver
Are you assisting a parent, ill spouse or aging person to remain as independent as possible? Are you caring for a grandchild under the age of 18? If you answered “Yes” to either of these questions, you are a caregiver. We want you to know that you don’t have to do it alone!
Whether you help a little - paying bills, checking on safety, doing chores, or help a lot - making meals, organizing medications or assisting with personal care, the Iowa Family Caregiver Support Program (IFCSP)* has information and resources that can help you and your loved one.
The Family Caregiver Specialist listens to your unique situation and connects you with the most appropriate resources. If you could use some education about caregiving or need an empathetic ear to listen, the IFCSP is there to assist you and your family. Whether you live with the person, reside across town or make your home in another state, our mission is to make your caregiving role easier.
The Iowa Family Caregiver Program is a service of the Iowa Association of Area Agencies on Aging. If you need information or assistance in providing care for your older loved one or grandchildren under the age of 18, call 1-866–468-7887 or contact Aging Resources of Central Iowa.
*The Iowa Family Caregiver Support Program (IFCSP) receives funding from federal dollars distributed by the Administration on Aging and the Iowa Department of Elder Affairs. IFCSP prohibits discrimination in all its programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, and marital or family status.
