Handbook for Adult Guardians and Conservators
A collaborative effort between the Iowa Department of Human Services, Office of the Public Guardian, Polk County Attorney’s Office, Legal Aid, and DHS volunteer services, has resulted in a handbook for guardians/conservators of adults. This handbook incorporates all the changes to Iowa Code effective January 1, 2020.
This handbook will apply to any guardian/conservator of an adult, whether filed civilly or as a result of an abuse assessment. The handbook is designed to provide information to guardians and conservators and is not intended to replace the advice of an attorney or requirements as stipulated by the laws of Iowa and addressed in the Iowa Code.
